While visiting my family over the weekend, my father introduced me to a new song. We always do this sort of thing while we are driving and while Rush isn’t new – obviously – I’ve never been much of a fan.
But this song, Prime Mover, struck me as particularly timely given our situation (you know – our unemployed situation – not the Jersey Shore one). The lines in the song, “The point of the journey is not to arrive. Anything can happen . . .” struck a chord (forgive the pun) because if you’re like me – you’re always looking for the horizon and waiting/thinking/obsessing about what’s next. If only I can get the job, get the promotion, learn ____. And while we obsess about what is currently lacking in our lives and convince ourselves everything will be perfect once the next thing happens – inevitably once we do get to that horizon another one will always be there.
I say it again only to remind myself but we need to enjoy this time and journey rather than worrying about the future. Anything can happen . . .
