The growing second language requirement. I’m one of those that only has one language. Despite attempts over the years to learn French in high school and Spanish through live courses and expensive software, I still can’ t add that nice little (and increasingly important) skill to my resume. No matter how important it is and how good my intentions, I just haven’t been able to make it a priority beyond the first week of strong effort.
So, how do I answer a question on an application where they make you check boxes for languages and it would really help if I can just show I have a basic level? I obviously do not want to put down false information but does it hurt to put down basic and if I happen to get an interview go into intensive language learning to reach a “basic” level? So, again, I ask, how basic is basic?
