On the one year anniversary of the start of this blog I have renewed faith in its purpose: to provide a positive forum for all the lawyers out there who find themselves in uncertain times. Whether you are in the middle of temporary work, still unemployed, or unhappy with your job despite being thankful just to have one, this is a positive place to discuss what’s next.
I’ve been staring at my blog for the past few months wondering what to say next. I realize its been since March since I’ve posted which is quite terrible. But, I’m happy to announce that I’m back. Perhaps it is not so surprising that I’m starting to write again given that I’m also picking up my serious job hunt again.
In the past few months I’ve been continuing to work in Geneva based on a post-graduate fellowship. The fellowship ended at the end of July but I was lucky enough to be offered a short-term contract continuing my projects until the end of the year. I have no complaints. While my work is mostly academic in nature, I am getting a big name international organization on my resume while having the luxury of Switzerland work hours in the middle of Europe. I’ve had plenty of time for travel and a strong attempt to learn French.
But, as my contract will end in a couple of months I must, once again, figure out what’s next. With that in mind, I’ve been finding it hard to push forward with my job hunt. To motivate myself, I’ve decided to promise myself that I will do:
1 Action per Day
Whether it is updating an old networking contact, applying to a job, or simply identifying a new opportunity, I have to take action once a day. I hope this commitment will bring some focus to the my job hunt.
